9 Kinds of Moms in SCHOOL WhatsApp Group

WhatsApp groups have their own charm, and there are several groups right from school friends to society friends, from official group to non-official groups, from family groups to cousins groups, and not to forget moms WhatsApp group. Due to the pandemic, schools have created official WhatsApp groups to keep all students in sync.

One of the best stress-busters in the Moms WhatsApp groups, you can know by yourself once you read the chats, and we have varieties of mothers whose participation and non-participation rate make them stand out in the crowd.

WhatsApp School Group - MeenalSonal

Silent Mom:

Silent mom is the one who never initiates talks neither responds to the conversations. It is like having a student in silent mode on the group. Such a child's mother is part of the group but never dares to send an emoticon, super shy mom, or we can say sheS has herself ‘Khamosh’ mode on in this group. Though she reads all the messages but never replies, even to reminders for the activities. Reminders are often given to mothers so that they remember to send the required materials to the school for numerous activities where the child is less interested, but the mother is. And this Silent Mother is like a constant spectator with a blank face where no one can even guess what she must be feeling or thinking.

Hyperactive Mom:

I am sure we all have at least one hyper-active mom in the school group. She is the one who posts school-related messages in the group every time. She not only posts important messages, she also posts the messages sent by the school to all the students in the group. Such as holiday message, test postpone messages, such moms are so much looked-up by all that parents get confirmed of a particular notification only when they see hyperactive active mom message in the group.

Futuristic Mom:

Such moms always look ahead of time and start planning kid's activities a quarter-time ahead. Yes, such moms look for the semester timetable of August in April, and this planning makes the entire group confuse about the exams that are going to happen after a quarter. While most of the moms are only on four days working plan, this Futuristic mother may even prepare her child for class 3 in class Upper Kg.

Worried Mom:

She is the one who has taken all the worries of life, be it child homework, co-circular activities or, any sort. She is the mother who is raising concern for all petty things in the group. Where other mothers are not even considering as it as a problem. This Worried Mom makes the topic so huge that you tend to think about it and raise your blood pressure levels that later on are just vanished as soon as you close this chat window. Many other mothers comfort her, but sometimes these comforting mothers are also tired of repeated activity, and they too turn on to become Silent Mothers in such cases.

Over to Principal Mom:

Any problem be it major or minor, this mother suggests taking all the matters to higher authorities such as the Principal and Trustee of the school. Be it an eraser missing or a book or length of periods mother needs to take every matter to the Principal. And you know what, because of such mothers' many school Principals are going crazy and have asked parents to resolve the matter at class or department level. Additionally, school authorities take a sigh of relief in the shield of emails and protect themselves. So next time you raise a concern, think thoughtfully where you are taking up and with whom, hope you don’t find Captain America sort of a shield from the school end.

Back to school, mom:

She is the one who wants to understand each problem and have to solve each question before her child does. If a child understands well in the class, she is the one who asks doubts about her level in the group. Then all mother gets worried about the level of thinking and asks where is a question in the book, and she replies, I was solving Olympiads higher-level question paper of the same topic, or she dug in some online papers of research. Then mothers in the group have doubts about who is solving such problems and pray that questions in the test paper appear from the textbook the next day.

Forward Mom:

No, no, don’t get us wrong we are not going to talk about mom with modern thoughts or a broader mindset. By forward mom, we have a mother who has taken charge to forward all irrelevant messages in the group, be it political, good morning, or any random jokes or questions. After many requests from the parents, she is the one who will continue to post forwards. You know, like a stubborn child, she is the one who carries the forward chain forward endlessly, or should I say meaninglessly. Let's leave it else she will forward this post too.

Show off, Mom:

She is the one who posts all the credits of her child, be it high marks in the subject or dance video practiced at home. She also posts any new dishes prepared by her child. She is always in praise mode on and always keeps her child at the frontline be its cultural activities, sports, or studies. Every single task completed by the child is posted in the group, and few moms who are modest in the group have to reply with emoticons in the group. Every mother praises her child but posting each completed job or extra-circular activity class group, this mother shares even daily chores pictures. Now I need to click an image next time my child makes toast for me or grabs me a water bottle.

Normal Mom:

She stays in the group, gathers information, replies if she is confident of information with required proof from the book or school message and messages only that is required in the group. Does it sound boring Mamma, well many mothers fall into this category and keep their sanity levels by quickly scrolling the messages till the end.

Mother WhatsApp Groups - MeenalSonal

I guess I fall in this Normal category or sometimes in each category, after all mother is a multi-oriented person.

So which mom category you could relate to yourself, or did names kept reminding you when you read each category of the moms. In the class, it's like unity in diversity, a diverse set of moms in a single class WhatsApp group.

This blog post is a part of #MyFriendAlexa season 5 campaign of Blogchatter, where we are taking our blog to next level and with this post in a humorous way.

  1. I'm a normal or silent mom who only types when required. Actually our group is like that. No one has the time to be hyperactive and all.

  2. This brings smile to my face. I think there are phases when I keep changing types.

  3. such an interesting post and I am amazed with your observations. I agree all moms tend to behave differently as per situation. I also behave sometimes as a worried mom and sometimes as a hyperactive too.

  4. Ha ha ha loved that last line that you're sometimes all because moms are multi-oriented. My mother would be the silent types unless someone said something and then she'd just have to message back :D

  6. Ha Ha HA, so funny, guess what I am the parent rep from my son's class, guess who gets all the blame if the school does a misstep!!!
Though I am usually a normal mom, there are times I wish I was the silent mom!

  7. Ha ha ha! Have faced each and every one of them!! I would like to be the silent mom, but holding my tongue is not my forte, so guess fall in normal mom category!

  8. Hahahah thats a good categorization. If I’d been in such a group I think I’d be a silent one 😛

  9. This is indeed funny. Have read a lot about these buzzing groups of school kids' moms. However, the groups I've been part of are created by the teachers only & hence there's very little room for this kind of buzz.

    A very entertaining post.

  10. Hahaha! Although I'm not a mom yet, but I enjoyed reading your descriptions about each kind of mom in Whatsapp groups! :D

  12. I think I am the "hyperactive mom" sometimes...;) but I also have been in all the categories one time or the other....

  16. To be very frank I have never been to a School Moms WhatsApp group... It is more one on one direct mail exchange with the teacher in case of doubts. Otherwise, in times of special occasions it is chain mails between the parents. This is a hilarious post and I can imagine the fin of having such a group 😁

  17. I am a silent mom. I only type when required. I always wake up to 120 unread messages on the group and (to be honest) I skip most of them. (bad but true)

  18. Haha, this was fun to read. It is my first time being a part of a school WhatsApp group. Our group is generally silent & all moms seem normal, maybe once we all meet each other after this pandemic we get little comfortable and start showing our true self :D

  19. Lol the categories of WhatsApp moms left me in splits😂 loved it!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. One categry that I guess you should include in this list is the star performer ki Ma... I enjoy that once in a while.. as teachers get enthralled by my son's space jargons and other moms spellbound.. ha ha

  21. Cool! This is seriously funny and so so true! Making caricatures of people, well-described. Will be coming back to read more.

  22. I am a father and have not been a member of a mom whatsapp group but your humorous take really had me in splits. Out of all the moms I think the futuristic mom and the show off mom are the most aggravating I guess. The show off mom even more than the futuristic mom. :)

  23. Hahahaha! This is so hilarious! Thanks for sharing this for people like me who are not yet a part of a mom's group!

  24. haha, that reminded me o my whatsapp group! I have two for both the kids and I am definitely a silent mom

Now during this pandemic the school groups are full of these categories mentioned. With the online schooling going on for kids.Moms are more active than anybody else.

  29. I prefer to be silent in WhatsApp grps but being the CR for my kids classes frm last 2 years, I've been more active and rather proactive for the parents in the grp .

  30. Ha ha .. what an interesting topic to write about.. thankfully I am not currently at that stage but I am seriously worried about all this.

  32. Hahaha! You seem to have all the kinds of moms that can be found around!! Fun post. Since my children are grown up way past school and stuff, I can only imagine them on the groups on whatsApp. You have it covered in this post!! :)

  33. haha! loved reading this - i can identify moms in each category ;)
I think I'm in the "normal" category, but that's probably because i chose to take the "hyper-mom" version of me offline and dump it on my poor unsuspecting husband!

    ReplyDelete
  34. haha love your writing style. I guess I am normal mom too or the one who misses deadlines always.. oh you have not mentioned her ;)

    ReplyDelete
  35. This is hilarious, I have heard so many complaints about school groups but this takes the cake.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Indeed funny, I do not have an experience myself, but have heard stories from friends and relatives about the whatsapp group.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I must say, all forward moms should be given warnings as they keep forwarding unnecessary stuff in group. I face this problem every day. It was a fun read 😊

    ReplyDelete
  38. What an apt categorization of moms in whatsapp groups. I am an hyperactive mom and I find the silent moms to be a tad irresponsible because of their non-communication in the group and in voicing the issues.

    ReplyDelete
  39. That's very close observation of the types of moms. Enjoy reading. #dewreads

  43. Nice post , happy that I am a normal mom :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hahaha..I had a good nostalgic trip down memory lane. My kids have long flown the nest but I could relate to all the categories u have listed out.I would add one of my own..The Teacher Chamcha mom....there were moms who would come to school everyday and ask for daily updates..so much so they would know the Unit test question papers as well!!

  45. This is one interesting post, Loved reading it. Now I need to check which I category I fall in, till then normal mom takes the charge. This one I'm sure gonna share in my whats app mommy groups. #PraGunReads #MyFriendAlexa #blogchatter
