BookReview: Crime Thriller Faith And The Beloved: Kochery C. Shibu

Trust, is the foundation for the love but what happens when the trust is shattered by loved ones. The book 'Faith and the Beloved' by Kochery C Shibu displays varied angels of faith and many ways to protect their loved ones.

Book Cover :

The red book cover represents love and revenge too. And the book cover has a heart where one side is diamond, and another side is blood; it goes perfectly with the track of the story. The book cover is designed by Misha Oberoi.

Storyline:

Alice Cherozil murders her stepfather Tony and runs away from the scene in a professional way. This is the starting scene of the story and makes the readers think about all the possibilities in the track. Was the terrorist connection of Tony made Alice murder him or any personal motive? And while Alice is wishing the safety of her mother Naithy, she is going away from her.

Prem Rollands is an attractive young person who comes into the life of the Cheroil family, and their events get so mixed up that lives of each connected person change 360 degrees.

How each one of the characters is doing tasks under their leap of faith and going overboard to protect their loved ones.

I cannot reveal more about the storyline as one may lose interest in the crime thrillers, and this review is a no-spoiler one.

See this video that introduces us to the book.

What makes you pick Faith and the Beloved:

Parallel track storyline is the charm of the thriller stories and author Kochery has woven this story in such a manner that at the start you feel the links are abrupt but once you pace through the stories page after page each dot gets connected.

Past and present tracks of each character plus each character parallel tracks with another make reader an attentive reader.

Diamonds and their made plays an important role in the story and the motive of the murder is also connected to it.

The detailing of each character and the scene makes you imagine the entire scene to the detail, readers get to know about various facts of the world slowly and steadily.

The story has many elements to it such as love, lust, revenge, betrayal, terrorism, and past religious beliefs and present ideology.

Anecdotes from the epic Mahabharat and Bible are a vital reference point in the story and connect the reader with the human values and the priorities of the characters.

What makes you pause with the book:

Sometimes readers' eagerness to know the track of the story makes them impatient with the lengthy descriptions. But when you pause reading the book and then pick the book again you understand how the in-depth detailing helps readers frame the character and their perspective in sync with the author.

Few incidents in the book make you feel low and make you think about the dark side of the world that we all wish to ignore.

If you are faint-hearted then this book may give you goosebumps at night with its crime thriller track.

Final Word:

The crime thriller story of Faith and the Beloved keeps you hooked from the start till the finish. Narration in the book is smooth, and chapters are based on characters but there are neither chapter numbers nor an index, so one has to have a bookmark handy else you may get confused in this crime thriller book. The book can be read by mature adults as the dark crime scenes are not advisable to below them. While reading the book one may think of various endings, author Kochery has penned the climax of the story in an artistic way where readers will take hope as the element from the book. 4/5

  4. I think the right way to make a book interesting in the review is not to give the complete essence of the story.
