About the Author: Sanjay Desai

Sanjay Desai is an entrepreneur and an ex-banker, an alumnus of IIM Bangalore, and a Chartered Accountant. During his successful career, Sanjay has been integrating the essence of a parallel spiritual journey with his material pursuits. He has now set out to share the ways and means of seamlessly traversing through the material and spiritual world, thereby enriching each journey.

Self-manifestation Journey:

The book Jasmine Builds on Shifting Sands is a learning journey of the author Sanjay Desai. With ample questions and a confused mind he sets out on Kedar trek to meet his spiritual guru, Ma Krishnamayi to enlighten him with her leanings.

Questions that the author wants to seek answers for:

Do we have the power to manifest the world within us? Can we ever do that on our own?

If we have the power within us how is it possible to realize that?

Is it possible to find everything by ourselves?

How his Guru Ma answers his questions by picking simple examples is captivating.

The conversation between the Guru and the author imparts great learnings to the readers. Guru Ma hands him to read a new generation story that could connect with him easily.

The Story:

This is a journey of self-discovery of Jasmine who is brilliant at studies, has simple dreams, is pampered by parents, and enjoys the company of her friends. But suddenly the simple life takes a sharp turn when she wins a beauty pageant. She is embarked on a journey in the fashion industry that throws her life into a confused melodrama.

How the transformation of a simple next door girl into a fashionista opens up different emotional and professional challenges in life is what the book portrays. Will Jasmine be able to cope up with the circumstances or will she give up is worth the read.

There are several other characters in the story which at some point or the other make Jasmine believe in her actions and guide her to set on a glamorous world of the fashion industry.

The fragrance from the book:

The first thing that I like about the book is that it is not an elaborate one. The author has managed to convey the thought in a short story form that strikes the perfect chord with the readers.

The epilogue and prologue in the book add richness to the thought.

The book very clearly focuses on how a will to do something in life can surpass any number of challenges.

Simple and lucid language easily connects with our heart, and the thought behind it is very well passed on.

The author also stressed the importance of mentors and how staying humble and grounded will help in life.

The book stands out in the way it has connected the ancient concepts of yoga, meditation, spirituality in the context of today’s fast paced world.

  6. Your review is increible and I just completed it yesterday. Sanjay Desai has been able to logically blend the spiritual practices - Yoga, Meditation, Introspection with Ayurvedic practices - massage and detox with modern day Goal setting, Will and Focus for manifestation of ones dreams. Excellent proposition and superb narration. A very practical approach towards achieving our dreams.
