The Book Age Of Azmoq is a
story of a fantasy world narrated in a creative style by the author Rajamayyoor
Sharma. The writer has taken quite a different take weaving the characters; the
scenic beauty, the supernatural weapons and most importantly combat fighting
sequence during a war ingeniously.

attractively using just perfect combinations of colors. The picture of a town
raised on a circular platform gels perfectly with the author’s creativity of a
fantasy world.
About
the Author:
Rajamayyoor Sharma is a
first-time author, who as far away from the writing world before this book
series took hold in his mind. He is a management consultant, with a degree in
engineering from BITS Pilani and an MBA from IIM Bangalore in India. He currently
lives in Bangalore with wife, son and parents. He loves to spend his spare time
reading anything with a story, watching movies with his wife and playing games
with his son.
The
Plot:
The story starts with the
introduction of the fantasy village, Villasboro, isolated from the outside
world well shielded and protected amidst natural beauty. The people of
Villasboro enjoys longevity of lifespan of 130 – 140 years, the people rarely
fall ill and are called young at an age of 70. What aspects make it unique from
the others and why it has no connection with the outside world is worth
reading.
A unique reserve of Azmoq metal whose
supernatural powers can control and conquer anything is deep buried in the
village. This coveted metal is molded to transform into weapons, which is
capable of holding myriad powers. The author’s fantasy world is a combination
of 5 continents and 7 oceans. Valantian Imperium, a group of powerful people
controlling the revolutions across the world to save their power and to set the
balance everywhere, guards all these.
The competition among the super powers to
conquer the High Seat and ultimately the metal reserve leads them to this
village. There are hallucinations, mind reading and controlling, combat
fighting, great weaponry and much more to know as the plot unfolds.
Things
that worked for me:
The map of Villasboro, the fantasy village, assists in
understanding its geographical aspects clearly.
The names of the some of the characters and the weapons are
extracted from Ramayana and Mahabharata.
The explanations of the war scenes are truly an appreciable work
by Rajamayyoor Sharma.
Things
that didn’t work for me:
The book seems a bit draggy and few explanations are repetitive
and monotonous.
Some portions of the story, which includes the mind reading part
is explained very elaborately, could have wrapped up in short.
The story lags to keep the readers connected till the end.
Final
note:
The story deciphers with perfection the imaginative aspect of the
writer and putting down in words creatively is the real strength of the book.
The book is a mix bag of bravery, valor, war, revolutions, scenic
beauty and many more supernatural things. It can no doubt interest to someone
who loves the fictitious world full of weapons and wars.
