Why Mothers are kicking off Golden pedestal

You can do this if you are a mother.

You can easily understand the child's problem, you are a mother.

You must know why the baby's stomach aches as you are a mother.

These are some general statements every mother has heard of, agree? Mothers are the supreme human beings, and we all love our mothers to the core. There are little things that make a mother superior or if I may say the best to create the world for a child. Mothers have a connection with a child that cannot be substituted but wait before you make the mother stand on a golden jewelled pedestal.

For many years’ mothers are given medals, badges, and crowns and also make them stand on a pedestal that has all the glory of the world. All the badges and medals are words of praise and hugs that the mother get from the child, and the crown mother wears daily is the crown of the pride by raising the child to face the world with self-belief and

But by adding responsibility to the mother, are we not making her wings tighter or making her stand on a platform asking her to contribute more in other words sacrifice more?

Mothers do not wish to stand on a special stage and have a bag of guilt now and then. Mothers wish to kick off the so-called stage that is set for them.

When a woman steps into motherhood, she is pressured from all over the place be it from family, relatives, colleagues, or society. All create a zone for her that needs to be perfect, quick, handy, problem solver, selfless, a nature lover, remarkable cook.

Mother is a human

Mother is a human too, let her have a breather and not treat her like a robot where every wish is fulfilled in a blink. It can happen that the meal she prepared turned out to be less in quantity, do not state that mothers are Annapurna and never can fall short of things in the kitchen or in the pantry. Every person cannot master culinary skills, so mothers can also be part of that group, there is nothing wrong with asking for help in the kitchen.

Mothers can be career-oriented

Mothers can be career-oriented too, do not judge them for their choices and personal growth or ask them about their life priorities bluntly, or pass strange statements. And adding the baggage of having to manage both can be so traumatic and overwhelming that most women opt to drop their careers. Staying at home is not a demeaning task but for a few, it can create a depressed state where they are unable to work on their career or passion.

Mothers have mental health issues

Mothers have mental health issues too; we cannot expect mothers to keep smiling all day and solving all problems of kids and house without a frown. At times mothers can shout at their peak too, it's human to vent out. The paramount stress a mother goes through is a serious condition that needs to be addressed rather than conveying to them that it is a phase and shall soon everything will be okay.

Final Thought

You must be thinking that on mother’s day by praising the woman with so varied roles we are doing a fab job but subconsciously we are adding a tag and a burden on the mother to continue to be selfless and boundless in all terms.

If a mother can like the child with all flaws, then the child can also love a mother who is a little self-oriented, a little irresponsible, who forgets at times, who fails at times, who has dreams, who has a career.

On this Mother’s day let us all give wings to mothers by loading off some of the burdens by appreciating the person she is and by accepting that mothers are humans too.

  1. For a child his/her mother is always perfect without any flaws even if she thinks she's not doing enough. I feel this excess baggage & expectation is dumped on the mothers by the society. I would just ask the society to leave the mothers alone and let her live her life without any judgements and expectations. Superb post, Sonal!

  2. So so true. Lets be by herself and not addressing her like a diva. She likes appreciation but which comes without the pressure of being perfect. Let her be by herself.

  3. Yes in our society people considered mothers as super human being and accept so much from them. you post shows the realistic aspect of this thought. of course, mothers can have their own dreams and own issues too. hope things change in future and mothers get free from judgmental behavior of society.

  4. The best gift for your child is a mother who loves herself because this way you are teaching them self love. Of late more awareness is there regarding the undue glorifying of motherhood to make them do it all .

  5. The best gift for your child is a mother who loves herself because this way you are teaching them self love. Of late more awareness is there regarding the undue glorifying of motherhood to make them do it all .

  6. Even I used to be like that..a perfect woman. I was suffering from clinical depression but used to hide it. But then I realised that I am harming myself. They I shared it with them and they became my caregivers.

  7. Great insightful blog, the undue pressure by society and sometimes by family/extented family on mother's need a reality check for sure.

  8. I agree , we are no super women. We are just normal humans who wants best for their children and family. If I say we are imperfectly perfect I many not be wrong.

  9. Hahaha i wrote on similar lines in my blog mean mom. I realised this some years ago when people were calling me superhuman and then telling me i should learn to cook. Super mom stopped right there. I feed my kids healthy and nutrition but cooking for others at home is definitely not my cup of tea.

  10. Such a beautiful and different post on Mother's Day. Yes, mothers are not super humans. They are human beings first, and like all humans, they are flawed too. They have their own weakness and vulnerabilities and that must be accepted and respected.

  15. Such an important message on Mother's Day to make people realize that a mother is a human being too. So glad that at last we are putting forth this simple truth to all.
