Book Review - 'The Bodyguard' by Ruchi Singh

Book Title :
The Bodyguard

Creative Cover :
The cover aptly blends with the title and prompted me to quickly start reading.

Know About Ruchi Singh :
Author of the bestselling romantic thriller 'The Bodyguard', Ruchi Singh is an IT professional turned novelist. Her other published novels are 'Take 2' and 'Jugnu (Firefly)'. Winner of TOI Write India Season 1, Ruchi has also published a short story collection, 'Hearts and Hots', besides being a contributing author to many anthologies.
A voracious reader, she loves everything--from classics to memoirs to editorials to chick-lit, but her favorite genre is 'romantic thriller'.

The Plot Unwrapped :
Vikramaditya Seth Jr., Owner of Seth industries empire is on someones hit list; but somehow narrowly escapes. He is offered Z plus security but he refuses that. Nikhil, a very close friend of Vikramaditya stays with him like his shadow keenly guarding him from his enemies and always making sure the place Vikram is going to visit is well searched and security measures are intact. His security tactics were impossible to crack and gave the plotter a hard time to target Vikram.

Nikhil gets more worried about his friend after the second attempt by the killer and appoints Esha.

Major Esha, a trained black cat commando, fierce, intelligent and hates any makeup is appointed to guard Vikramaditya Seth Jr. But love soon starts brewing between them taking their relationship to a next level.

But will Esha be able to do justice of guarding Vikram?
Who wants Vikram dead?
Does the killer manage to deploy his plan of action?
Whether Esha and Nikhil will save their most loved one?
And will Vikramaditya Jr. come out of nasty circumstances?

For all the answers to these questions you may pick the book as much revealing about the suspense may hinder the reading experience of such a beautifully framed romantic thriller.

The story has it all love, respect, compassion, friendship, hatred and revenge.
There are many other characters introduced like Brother, Mother, Sister of Vikram Seth, a caretaker at his sisters house, Vikrams cook and Ex wife.

The writer has taken a great care portraying the characters with keenly woven words. How each character and their secrets behind unfold is worth reading.

Perfect Picture :
  • I have read Ruchi Singh's book for the first time and I am truly impressed with her writing skills, expressions and framing of the story line.
  • One after the other each character is introduced with apt choice of words.
  • The Scenes in the story just sways as it is happening just in front of our eyes.
  •  The chapters are labelled intelligently mentioning the location, date and the timing of the event taking place.

Final Word :
Lastly I would say the author has done a great job crafting this 'Romantic Thriller', a story which progresses keeping the secret well guarded and maintaining the curiosity till the end. It is for all those book lovers out there who wants to taste the story with a jibe
of romance and suspense.
