Is Wisdom Becoming Dumb?

All in this world come as a clean slate, where experiences, feeling and people pen down a lot on it. As we grow we learn plenty of things a few are taught and a few are learnt by observation; thus one gains immense amount of official knowledge, which is nothing but knowing facts. The ability to apply the knowledge gained in a right direction is wisdom. “Not by age but by capacity is wisdom acquired” is well quoted by Titus Maccius Plautus.

What is Wisdom?

Wisdom is the only treasure ancestors cannot pass it to their generations as it comes from good times, hard times, relationships, and experience. Wisdom is our ability to judge what is right or wrong, our common sense, our course of action taken according to situations, foresightedness, understanding and intelligence. “We don’t receive wisdom; we discover it from ourselves after a journey that no one can take for us or spare us” – Marcel Proust. But aren’t we relying more on knowledgeable stuff than wisdom. True that knowledge takes one higher in ladder of life, but wisdom teaches you how to stay on it. That quirkiness is slowly getting lost.

In today’s world where all are dependent on highly used gadgets, we hardly put any effort to memorize or get creative; for every minute thing we are depending on web.  I’ll share a very recent incident where a common friend was entirely depending on web searches for a school project of a toddler. Just few rhyming words for fruits were being searched on internet. I was amazed whether she searched for ideas within before looking somewhere else. But a question here may arise that if we have such a facility that everything we want to know is just a click away then why not avail them?

Wisdom superior than Knowledge
Wisdom is priceless
Why Wisdom is superior than Knowledge:

Why we need schools or colleges or universities? The lessons which are taught in school are also available online. Its true we can learn basic facts and gain the knowledge about anything we want; But we will not find that love, dedication and faith of our mentors, their valuable advices, their prized experiences shared, their appreciation which builds our confidence which is priceless and couldn’t be learnt through those gadgets.

Looking for an inspiration, and getting creative with it is nothing wrong, but are we looking in our brain, maybe one has more potential than simple ideas expressed in net, maybe your initiative is chain breaker of all the rest. “The fabled musk deer searches the world for the source of scent which comes from itself” – Ramakrishna. Hope we don’t become like deer, which searches in whole world but the things are finally within self. Never underestimate yourself; give wings to your imagination, then see up in the sky how far it goes.
However the question is; if you have an option open you will never look for other ones, that’s very simple rule of life. Have idea from within and definitely give it shape with the service called web. Let you be master of the idea and let web be at your service. Don’t always look at the perfection at very start of anything as a painting also becomes beautiful with many pencil strokes. Michael J Fox superbly expressed “I am careful not to confuse excellence with perfection. Excellence, I can reach for; perfection is God’s business”. I would finally say “Be wise, be creative and be a trendsetter; after all it’s the recognition for our own ideas gives immense happiness".

"Everyone is born genius, but most people only keep it a few minutes" – Edgard Varsese
